LEARNING
TREE
21st Century Community Learning
Centers
Mission and Goals:
Funded by the Texas Education Agency's 21st Century Community
Learning Centers grant, the Learning Tree after school programs
are located at Anson Jones Middle School, Sam Rayburn Middle School,
Sul Ross Middle School, Passmore Elementary, Meadow Village Elementary,
Mary Hull Elementary, Linton Elementary, Cable Elementary, Valley
Hi Elementary and Villarreal Elementary.
The Learning Tree programs provide after school enrichment classes,
community service clubs, tutoring, homework help, mentoring, and
Saturday School. Additionally, the programs offer opportunities
to the students, families and community in the areas of education,
health, and enrichment-all in a safe, supervised environment.
Through these learning, enrichment and support activities, the
programs lessen exposure of our youth to negative influences,
and unlock the potential for positive family and community development.
