The Family Involvement Program was created to build communication with parents, staff, and the community by encouraging parents and families to actively participate in school activities and positively influence their child's education.
We offer:
Parenting Workshops
We offer FREE workshops on a variety of parenting topics, from "How to Discipline your Child" to "Understanding the School System in the USA." These workshops are held at various campuses. Participants will get the latest researched based information on how to understand their children and how to cope with the vast changes in our society. Quality childcare is provided and opportunities to win great door prizes.
MATT's Maestro en Casa
Do you want to learn the English language? Does your busy schedule not allow you to attend a class? You can Learn the English language at home. NISD's Family Involvement Program has partnered up with the MATT Foundation (Mexicans & Americans Thinking Together). Books and CDs are included in this FREE program.
HEB's Read 3 Early Literacy
This FREE six-week series of workshops is for parents/grandparents/guardians with children ages of 3 and 4. Participants will get hands-on experience on how to create and teach literacy at home. Two FREE books are given at every session and participants will receive a $25 H.E.B. gift card upon completion of the course.
Harper's Embrace CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
This FREE American Heart Association "Friends & Family CPR class" teaches children, parents, families and all members of our communities CPR skills.
Boys Town Common Sense Parenting
This six-week series provides Parents/Grandparents/Guardians with many proven techniques that will help you in building good family relationships, preventing & correcting misbehavior, using consequences to improve behavior, teaching self-control, and staying calm.
Participants must register for classes by contacting our office.
