SUPERINTENDENT
NORTHSIDE
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
Dear Patron,
Dear Community Members,
It's hard to believe that another school year is about to end.
This past school year has gone by so quickly and I know everyone,
including me, is looking forward to some relaxation this summer!
Northside's Adult and Community Education department is the perfect
place to turn to if you're looking for some fun and refreshing
activities this summer. The theme for this semester's course offerings
is "Change Your Mind." So this summer, I really want
to encourage those of you who have never taken a course through
ACE to try it out.
I know you'll be amazed by the incredible variety of courses that
are offered, and I promise you that, if you flip through the pages
of this catalog, you'll find something that interests you. Remember,
Adult and Community Education serves the entire community, whether
you've got children in school or not.
Get moving this summer by taking a yoga, zumba, or kayaking class,
learn about vegetarian cooking, or sign up for one of ACE's most
popular courses: the Ms. Fix-it class. Or explore your creative
side with one of dozens of dance, language, and fine arts classes.
Classes are offered at locations throughout the District at convenient
times.
The fun isn't just limited to adults. It's summertime, which means
ACE has a huge selection of children's camps on the docket. There
will be Clarinet, Lego, and Web Design Camps to name a few, along
with nine weeks of day-long camps co-sponsored by Urban Ministries
and YMCA. There will also be a Golf Academy and cooking classes
for kids.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy summer and look forward to
seeing you in the fall.
Sincerely,
John M. Folks, Ed.D., Superintendent
