Caldecott Medal – The Caldecott Medal is awarded annually by the ALSC to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

Newbery Medal – The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the ALSC to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

Texas Bluebonnet Award – Texas students from third to sixth grade actually select the winner of this award each year. The Texas Bluebonnet Award was established in 1979 to encourage students to read more books, current books, develop powers of discrimination and identify their favorite books. Students from third to sixth grade must read at least five books from the master list in order to vote for their favorite Bluebonnet book.
