Martha
Gonzalez Coach Martha began to swim club at 14. She coached swim lessons
with a local swim school for 3 years. While teaching swim lessons, Debbie
Star recommended her to coach club. She shadowed the 14 & under girls
for one summer and after that began to coach the 8 & Under Piranha team.
She has been coaching the Piranhas now since 2004.
Although
Coach Martha began swimming later in life she realizes her accomplishments
were her determination to work hard at something she loved to do. She
never let the thoughts of others get in her way in continuing to improve
herself as an athlete.
Martha
is currently at UTSA where she will graduate with her Bachelors in Early
Childhood in 2010. From there she will pursue her Master’s degree. While a
student at UTSA she has maintained a 4.0 GPA and been named to the Dean’s List.
Outside
of swimming she is the KB Kidz Coordinator at her church. She has been
involved in her Children's church since 2002 and has been the children̓s Christmas musical
choir director.
Coach Martha enjoys coaching because of her love of the
sport as well as working with kids and helping them do something they
love. She especially likes coaching 8 & Unders because they are
spontaneous, funny, and the strides in improvement are significant and
rewarding. |
