Coach
Andrew is a legend in South Texas Swimming. An All-American at Ohio Wesleyan
before getting his Master’s degree at Indiana University under the famed Doc
Counsilman, Coach Andrew began his career with the Ft. Sam Houston (age group)
“Aqua-Brats”. After returning to Indiana for 4 years, Coach Andrew returned to
San Antonio to take over the reins of Marshall High School and the Northside
novice swimming program.
At Marshall, Coach Andrew
put together one of the most successful runs in Texas high School history,
with the most consecutive top-five finishes by any team. He coached both
Matt Hooper and Heather Branstetter who both set the two longest-lasting
records in Texas swimming history.
Coach Andrew is the Chair
of the Health Department at Marshall. His son, Tom, and daughter, Caitlin,
were both UIL State medalists for Marshall. Tom has gone on to be the MVP
in the Texas Collegiate Water Polo Association, while Caitlin has continued
her All-American ways at Arizona State University.
His wife, Donna, is a retired
researcher, who now is locally renowned as a stained-glass artist. |
