Coach O'Malley's aquatics career began in San Antonio as a high school swimmer at Central Catholic, where he was named the most improved swimmer. After high school, Coach O'Malley traded his Speedo for combat boots as a U.S. Marine Corps Reservist.

In the Marine Corps coach O'Malley was a squad leader and platoon leader.

Coach O'Malley's coaching career began 9 year years ago in the Austin area where he taught swimming classes, coached at multiple club levels, and graduated from Texas State with honors with a social studies teaching certificate.

Coach O'Malley recently moved back to San Antonio and is looking forward to being a coach and a teacher in the NISD with Marshall Aquatics.
