United States Masters Swimming (USMS) is a national organization that provides organized workouts, competitions, clinics and workshops for adults aged 18 and over. Programs are open to all adult swimmers (fitness, triathlete, competitive, non-competitive) who are dedicated to improving their fitness through swimming.
Masters swimming is a nationwide program for adult swimmers of all abilities who are interested in lifelong athletic participation in a friendly setting. Stimulated by the association with coaches and experienced swimmers of all ages, we believe in fun, fitness, and endless possibilities for improved swimming skills.
"United States Masters Swimming (USMS) is an organization dedicated to the premise that the lives of participants will be enhanced through aquatic physical conditioning." To that end, USMS has set it's mission "To promote fitness and health in adults by offering and supporting Masters swimming programs." (USMS Rule Book)
Founded in 1970, the non-profit corporation is organized with over 500 clubs in 52 regions throughout the United States. Membership numbers more than 48,000, with individual members ranging in age from 18 to over 100.
All USMS programs are designed to help swimmers improve fitness and/or train for specific goals, and offer active support for a healthy lifestyle through friendship, and camaraderie.
Alamo Area Aquatics Association has coaches directing the workouts from the deck to ensure safety and a well organized practice. We take swimmers of all abilities and with different goals. |
