Our goals in the Bob Beard Elementary Library are to promote the skills necessary for lifelong learning and to foster the development for a love of reading, as well as to support the curriculum of Northside ISD.  We are striving to accomplish these goals by direct student instruction in age appropriate library skills and research strategies that relate to subjects being studied in the classrooms.  We also sponsor reading incentive programs such as the Texas Bluebonnet Award, Accelerated Reader, and Book-It.

The Bob Beard Library is open daily to students, parents, and community from 7:15-3:30.  We are closed on Monday afternoons for faculty meetings, Wednesday afternoons for a UTSA mentor program,  and Friday afternoons for language classes.  Students in kindergarten and first grade may check out one book at a time for two weeks.  Second graders through fifth graders may check out two books for two weeks.  Parents may check out 5 books for two weeks.

Students may come in before school to check out books or take Accelerated Readers tests.  They may obtain a library pass from the teacher on duty in their hallway.
