Art
Kinder is having a great time drawing very colorful images with soft pastels.   They listened to some classical music and drew lines and shapes to represent their feelings while listening to the music.

Second grade studied contour drawing and abstract art.  They learned to draw their hand or their shoe with one line.  They also studied about abstract art and further converted their work into abstract by using different colors and looking at the drawing as various shapes.
Fifth graders started out the school year working with clay.  Each class was given a different assignment -kimonos, houses, chairs, or masks.  Here we see one group working on their houses,  some students went way out and created condos. They used various tools to created some very interesting designs.
Here we see a close-up of one of the condos.  It has a waterfall on top, swimming pool and a car and monkey will be added later.  More to come next 9 weeks.
The fifth grade project last year was awesome. Here are a couple of pictures of what the class of 2007-2008 created for our school.  If you have not seen it, visit our rotunda above Mrs. Blattman's display case.
Every 5th grade student created a self-portrait in the Fauvism style of painting.  All students studied about Henri Matisse and how he began the Fauvism movement which was a French term for wild beast.  Critics believed the colors were to loud and too loose.  I'm glad he followed his heart and gave us a wonderful way to paint.  Hope you enjoy our Fauvism black bear.  Title: A Barrage of Color.
