Introduction

Air. Breathing. Oxygen. Things we take for granted. The following links will lead you to sites all over the Web related to the Carbon Dioxide-Oxygen cycle and how it relates to you and the world. Work individually or with a small group to do the following activities.

The purpose of this Web page is to give you a sampling of the importance of the Carbon Dioxide-Oxygen cycle. Good luck and remember…breathe!

Internet Activities
O- You beautiful thing!
Activity:
          1. What percentage of the air we breathe is oxygen?
          2. List two effects of breathing pure oxygen at normal pressure on Earth.
          3. Based on the answers for question number 2 is breathing pure oxygen harmful or not. Why?

          Can you "C"(O2) me?!!?
          Activity:

        1. Sniff the air.  You just inhaled several gases including carbon dioxide (CO2). What do you already know about carbon dioxide?
        2. List three facts about carbon dioxide by clicking on the title Can you "C" (O2) me?
        3. Why do you think that too much carbon dioxide could negatively affect our planet? Click on the global climate change link to find out.

          Activity:

            1. Why is nature considered the first recycler?
            2. Why is death an important part of the Carbon Dioxide-Oxygen cycle?
            3. Find the picture of the Carbon Dioxide-Oxygen cycle (the Water cycle is included). Label your paper with 1-4 and A and B. Using the word bank above the picture identify the parts of the cycle.

Conclusion

You have just finished exploring the Carbon Dioxide-Oxygen cycle. Write three questions using what you learned that could help a friend learn about the cycle. Good work and good breathing!!!
