Student Activity 1: The students will brainstorm words that describe the desert. After defining and discussing the characteristics of a desert the class will create a web. Each student will re-create a web on Inspiration using the descriptive words of a desert.
Student Assessment: The web created on Inspiration.

Student Activity 2: After defining and discussing living and nonliving, students will write a list of the characteristics of a living and nonliving thing. Students will create a T-Chart on KidPix to classify living and nonliving things in the desert.
Student Assessment:Teacher observation, student created T-Chart.

Student Activity 3:As a whole group the students will answer the questions on the Animals of the Desert Subject Sampler. The teacher will write answers on chart paper. The students will choose thier favorite desert animal and show how it survives in the desert by drawing a picture on KidPix. They will write 2 sentences describing that animal. Using KidPix, a slide show will be created for all students to view.

Student Activity 4:After viewing the slide show, the students will tally the number of each animal to use to make a graph on Graphers.
