School
Hours:
School starts at 7:45 a.m. All children
should be in their classrooms.
School ends at 2:45 p.m.
Attendance:
Attendance is taken at 9:00 a.m. Students will be counted
absent after that time.
Tardies
& Late Arrivals:
Students are tardy after 7:45 a.m. Parents are required
to come to the office to sign in their child and secure a pass prior to taking
him/her to class. Please do not send tardy students into school by themselves.
Repeated
Tardiness:
An attendance committee has been formed to review excessive
tardies and/or absences. The committee consists of the Attendance Secretary,
the Principal, and two teachers. They will meet once a month to review records
for possible attendance referrals and/or possible detention hall for those students
who have excessive tardies. The following guidelines have been set up for detention
hall: If a child has four or more tardies a month, their records will be reviewed
and parents will be contacted by an administrator. If deemed necessary, the
child will be assigned to detention hall and parents notified of date and time.
If the child does not attend detention hall, then the student can be referred
to the District Attendance officer. Transportation for a child assigned to detention
will be the responsibility of the parent.
Absenses:
Written excuses need to be sent with your child when
he/she returns to school after being absent. If a child returns to school without
an excuse, he/she will be asked to come to the office, and the parent will be
contacted. If the school does not receive a written note, the absence will be
considered unexcused. Note: Once Prekindergaten & Kindergarten students
enter school, they are subject to compulsory attendance laws.
Excused
Absences:
A school district will excuse a student for temporary
absence resulting from health care professionals if that student returns to
school on the same day of the appointment. The day of absence shall be counted
as a day of compulsory attendance. A note from the health care professional
should be brought into the office when the parent signs in the child.
