Prevention

The key to prevention is education. Children need to know the risks and have the self confidence to be able to walk away from situations where drug use occurs.

To build this confidence the guidance department along with the rest of the faculty and staff at Burke teach the importance of the 6 Pillars of Character and the 40 Developmental Assets.

Research has shown that the MORE Developmental Assets possessed by a child the MORE likely a child will resist becoming involved with drugs and the MORE likely a child will find success in life.
