Dear Students and Families,
We have had a great start to the school year! It's hard to believe that we are already in the second grading period. Parents, I hope that you are finding the Parent Connection to be useful in terms of keeping track of your student's grades and attendance. It is a powerful form of communication. If you do not have access to a computer at home, we encourage you to come to campus and let us show you how we can help you with accessing this information here at school.
We recently administered the PSAT to our 10th and 11th grade students. This is an important test for a couple of reasons. First, it gives our 11th grade students the opportunity to qualify for various scholarships offered by the College Board. This test is one that colleges look at closely when making decisions about admission, especially if a student has qualified to be a National Merit Scholar. Secondly, the test is excellent practice for the SAT, the college admissions test that many of our kids will be taking. The more familiar they are with the test, the better they will do.
Parents of 9th grade students, It looks as though our 9th grade students did well in the first grading period. There are a few, however, who are struggling. Please contact us about ways to help your student. We will also be in touch with you. We want to form a partnership with you so that we can offer our students as much support as possible. These grades they receive in the 9th grade year are so important when looking at establishing a strong Grade Point Average.
Finally, we know that many of our kids are involved in extracurricular activities. If your son/daughter is not, please talk with us. We want all kids to be "connected" to a group on campus, and there are so many options available for them.
Thank you all for your support.
