Dear BC Families,
Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you for a wonderful school year! So many positive things have happened for our students this year, and I hope that you have been able to visit this website periodically to see the many things our students are involved in. We have had students who have participated in community service; our students have won many contests; our students have received acceptances to many fine colleges and universities while also being awarded many, many scholarships. Additionally, our students are performing well on local assessments in addition to state and national assessments. We have many reasons to celebrate as the school year draws to a close.
I would like to take a moment to clarify something and hopefully dispel a rumor that has been circulating. Several weeks ago you all received a letter which explained how students starting with the Class of 2011 would be ranked. In short, our students will receive a combined rank with Holmes High School. Up to this point, our students' transcripts indicated a ranking for just the BC students and one which ranked them combined with the Holmes students. In 2011, this will no longer be the case. Due to state imposed changes, there will only be one rank on the transcripts, and that will be the combined rank. This letter caused much discussion among our students and parents, and suddenly there was a rumor that BC was closing down. Let me assure you that we are not closing down. We will, in fact, have a student body of about 740 students next year. We are alive and well, and we will continue to grow and improve over time. Please call if I can help to clarify the class rank issue for you.
Finally, let me say that I hope you all have a wonderful summer! My first wish for you is that you would have some family time. My second wish is that you will use your summer for productive purposes. Catch up on your sleep, but once you're caught up on your sleep, pick up a good book; perhaps do some volunteer work; start preparing for college entrance exams. Have fun...but also use your time in a productive way.
Thanks again to ALL of you for a great year, and I look forward to seeing everyone in August.
