Since its beginning in 1978, Clark High School has had the needs of the advanced student in mind. What has emerged is a multifaceted program that affords many great opportunities for growth and development
Today Clark High School has one of the largest, most diverse AP programs in the state found in a public high school, a dual credit program linking a number of our courses with Northwest Vista Community College for both high school and future college credit for work done at Clark, and a GT program that encourages students into a number of venues for growth and discovery.
In 1988 Clark High School was awarded a Distinguished School Award from the College Board (for our four-state region) for the thorough and successful AP program that had emerged on our campus. This was one of the first such awards presented to a public school and the very first in the San Antonio area. Several individual instructors have also won the Distinguished Teacher Award from the College Board. The AP and dual credit programs continue to develop here at Clark, as new subjects are added and instructors continue to prepare themselves with specialized training and advanced studies. For more specifics on these opportunities, see department sites or speak to the counseling staff at Clark High School.
