As a parent it is important to know how to access a wide array of information. Each day something new and different comes up in the awesome job we call parenting. Parents who seek support and extend their knowledge are more confident and on target as they handle each new situation.
Books, magazines, grandparents, pediatricians, friends, help lines and even the Internet are sources of information and advice in the journey of parenthood. KIDSHEALTH.ORG is one such source for potential information and support. www.kidshealth.org provides information for children, teens and their parents. Remember this is only one such source on the net and this activity is designed to introduce you to such sites; make you aware of the kind of information available to families as they traverse the new millennium.
Students will:
1st Go to www.kidshealth.org Observe the home page and record your answer to the question below.
2nd Click through the three components you listed; browse topics from each. Jot down your observations for each.
3rd. Discover what the Nemour Foundation is and record your answers to the questions below.
4th Now, focus on one component of your choice. Choose a specific topic and article. Review the information (this means read it and perhaps jot some notes) and use Microsoft Word to write a review.
