INTERNET ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY FOR NORTHSIDE
Examples of Inappropriate Behavior
STUDENT
ACCEPTABLE USE OF THE ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
- All use of Northside
ISD networks (NorthsideNET) and access to the Internet must be in
support of education, research, and work-related activities, and
be consistent with the policies and goals of the Northside Independent
School District.
- Any use of NorthsideNET
for commercial and/or for-profit purposes is expressly prohibited.
Extensive use of NorthsideNET for personal business is expressly
prohibited.
- The use of NorthsideNET
for product advertisement/endorsement or political lobbying /campaigning
is prohibited.
- Internet accounts
accessed through the Northside NET are to be used only by the authorized
owner of the account for an authorized purpose.
- Users shall not seek
information on, obtain copies of, modify files, other data, or passwords
belonging to other users on the network.
- All communications
and information accessible via Northside NET shall not be assumed
to be private property. E-mail will be monitored by the provider
and teachers and administrators of NISD may monitor your E-mail.
- No use of NorthsideNET
shall serve to disrupt the use of the network by others; hardware
and/or software shall not be destroyed, modified, or abused in any
way.
- Malicious use of NorthsideNET
to develop programs that harass other users or infiltrate a computer
or computing system and/or damage the software components of a computer
or computing system is prohibited.
- Hate mail, chain letters,
harassment, discriminatory remarks, pornographic references or graphics,
and other antisocial behaviors are prohibited on NorthsideNET.
- No contracts may be
made on NorthsideNET which violate any NISD policy.
- The illegal installation
of copyrighted software for use on District computers is prohibited.
- No software may be
installed which compromises network operational systems, which is
inappropriate, or which is of questionable instructional value.
- No private or personal
software may be installed on a District computer without the authorization
of an NISD technology director.
- Any violations of
the use of the Internet/NorthsideNET should be reported to the teacher,
technology facilitator, or supervisor assigned to the user.
- It is the user's responsibility
to maintain the integrity of the private electronic mail (E-Mail)
system. Users must report all violations of privacy.
