Research Proposal

For our research project, we are exploring our cultural and family histories. Choose one of the following topics to research

•  The coming to America of your cultural or ethnic group. Notice that this does not require that you research YOUR family's coming to America , but the emigration of your ancestors in general. You are looking for information about emigration in general and how it affected the lives of immigrants.

•  A historical event that your ancestors or cultural/ ethnic group may have participated in. Again, our focus is how that event affected the lives of your ancestors.

•  The purpose of the proposal is to determine how much credible information exists about your research topic. Answer the following questions:

•  What do you want to study? Explain what you already know about this topic.

•  Why you want to study this topic? What makes this event or idea worth studying?

•  What will you do---and why---during the course of your investigation? How will you gather resources for your project?

•  List at least ten questions you have about this topic.

•  Compile a preliminary bibliography of sources you think you will use. Print out all the sources you find, even if you decide not to use them later (minimum of 10 sources). Paper clip them to this page.

List your sources here using the following formula:
