WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?

You will write a literature-based essay about a conflict. Choose one of the following conflicts in Antigone that you will then relate to current events and that you will focus on throughout the paper:

5. Society versus law
6. Person versus person
7. Person versus self:

WHAT MUST THE PAPER INCLUDE?

1. A clearly written thesis sentence which is divided into these subjects:
1. The conflict within the play Antigone
2. The same conflict in current events (three examples)

2. At least four paragraphs which include the following:
1. An Introduction to your chosen conflict which includes the author and title of the play
2. At least one paragraph about this same conflict in Antigone
3. At least one paragraph about the same conflict in current events
4. A conclusion
3. Three or more document quotations, paraphrases*, or references from the play
4. Three or more documented quotations, paraphrases, or references from current events
5. Quotations and/or paraphrasing documented correctly
6. A Works Cited Page
7. Each quotation must be introduced correctly.
8. Turn in with the paper the current event articles printed from the Internet. Write your name on each article and staple to the back of the paper.

*Paraphrasing: Putting information in your own words

EXAMPLE: Antigone had a major disagreement over a law initiated by Creon. The law forbade the burial of dead soldiers who did not fight for Creon, which affected Antigone’s brother Polyneices (Prologue. 15-25).
