INTRODUCTION

You will enjoy learning about different types of sea turtles and be able to use your knowledge of measurement to answer questions.  Work carefully and if time allows, at the end there is a sea turtle puzzle to complete.

1.  What is the length of the Loggerhead turtle?
2.  This is about the same size as the length of a notebook, the length of a desktop, or the width of the door.
3.  How much longer is the Leatherback turtle than the Loggerhead turtle?
4. What is the difference in the weight of the Leatherback and the largest Loggerhead?
5.  How many months can you find the Loggerhead turtle's nest in Florida?
6.  What is the length of the hatchlings when they break through the egg?
7.   Referring back to question numbers 3 and 6, how many inches will they have grown when they reach adult size?
8.  How many days after the eggs are laid do the hatchlings break through their shells?
9.  How deep is the hole for their nest?
10.  This hole is about the same depth as a cereal bowl, a milk jug, or a classroom trash can.
11.  How long can the Hawkbill sea turtle stay under water? 
12.  How long can the Green sea turtle stay under water?
13. How many more minutes can the Hawkbill stay under than the Green sea turtle?
