| TEACHER'S LESSON
PLAN |
| Performance Standrards: (These can be found in the
NISD Standards) A. Organize elements on the periodic table by their
physical characteristics(7th). B. Identify structure and properties of
atoms including mass and electrical charge as revelaed by a study of the
periodic table (8th). |
| Essential Skills: (These can be found in the NISD
Standards) Pick and choose the essential skills that go along with the
performance standards. A. Periodi table, elements, symbols (7th) B.
Properties of atoms, organization of the periodic table (symbols, mass)
(8th). |
| Learning Objectives: (What is the lesson about?) The
student will be able to identify and research the characteristics of an
assigned element. Students will use the Internet to investigate properties
of an element. Students will create an element poster using Microsoft
Paint, displaying their findings. The final project will be a reflective
PowerPoint presentation of the element. |
| Student Activity 1: Internet Research: Students will
investigate the element using the Internet. |
| Student Assessment: (Could be a rubric, product,
teacher observation, or standardized assessment.) Teacher

| Student Activity 3: PowerPoint Activity: Students
will create a 7 slide show to present their element. The slides should
consist of: intro, element symbol, atomic mass, atomic #, purpose/use of
element, where is element found, number of protons, neutrons and
electrons. |
