TEACHER'S LESSON PLAN
Performance Standrards: Identify types of wetlands and their characteristics. Identify survival adaptations of plants and animals.
Essential Skills: Identify and classify living and nonliving factors in a wetland. Identify, construct, and test models depicting environmental change on physical environment.
Learning Objectives: The students will learn about wetlands through the Wetlands subject sampler. They will then construct a web on Inspritation using their knowledge. They will use this information to create a Powerpoint Presentation about wetlands. They will present their Power Point presentations to another third grade class.
Student Activity 1: The students will complete the Wetlands Subject Sampler. They will first learn about the three main types of wetlands. Then, they will learn about the animals that live on wetlands. The lesson will conclude with the students learning about the beaver and how it helps maintain the wetlands.
Student Assessment: Students will complete the worksheet entitled Wetlands.

Student Activity 2:The students will create a web using Inspiration. The students will name the three main types of wetlands; marshes, swamps and bogs. The students will describe two animals that live in the wetlands. The students will describe the important part the beaver plays in maintaining the wetlands.
Student Assessment:A rubric will be used to assess the student's web.

Student Activity 3: The students will create a Power Point Presentation that focuses on the three major wetlands; marshes, swamps and bogs. They will then describe two animals that live in the wetlands; the Great Egret and the Beaver. Then, they will describe the important role that the beaver plays in maintaining the wetlands. The students will create atleast 5 slides. The students will need to include pictures and text.
Student Assessment:The student's work will be assessed using a rubric.

Student Activity 4:Each student will present their Power Point presentations to another student in a third grade class. They will explain the information in their presentation.
