Classroom computers
3000+ deployed in last 6 months

Thanks to voters’ approval of technology bond funds, careful planning, and
an aggressive schedule, 17 campuses have received new technology in classrooms, labs, libraries, workrooms and offices since just last June. This translates into 3,151 computers and 1,552 printers for students and staff! More campus upgrades are being planned.

“We’ve implemented an ‘integrated service delivery model’ to better respond to the needs expressed by campus administrators and staff,” says Kelly Smith, Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services. “The ‘integrated service delivery’ approach means that campus-based technology projects are coordinated, synchronized and collectively managed by technology staff from across all service areas, resulting in an efficient deployment of technology to the campus,” Smith adds.

Here are examples of what campuses are doing with these new computers.

With the assistance of Warren HS CIT Mary McBeth, senior Beatriz Mora was able to create a 3D research paper. Students were required to hypertext all internal documentation, graphics that were required in the paper, and all “work cited” entries. She copied all papers from the network drive onto one CD, which the teacher took home and graded with paper rubrics. The teacher was able to open all the sources, verify information and check for plagiarism. “The days of keeping crates of research materials is now past,” McBeth said.

Folks's Sayings

Making decisions with children at heart

Northside ISD gratefully acknowledges
the invaluable contributions that School Trustees make to NISD and
to students.

On the occasion of School Board Appreciation Month, we proudly join educators and community members in saluting these education advocates as they provide leadership for student achievement, academic programs, district funding, and school facilities.

Volunteer school board members serve countless hours working to improve public education. School trustees have a tremendous responsibility preparing today’s students—and tomorrow’s leaders—for productive roles in our society. School board members are the voices of their communities, serving first and foremost in the best interest of our schoolchildren.

Their service ensures that decisions about local public schools are made by those most familiar with the needs of the community’s children and families. These individuals deserve recognition and thanks for their commitment and dedication to the continuing success of our students and schools.

Serving on the NISD Board are: Robert (Bobby) Blount, Jr., District 4, President; Randall H. (Randy) Fields, District 6, Vice President; George Lynn Britton, Jr., District 1, Secretary; Annie L. Holmes, District 2; M’Lissa M. Chumbley, District 3; Katie N. Reed, District 5; and Harold (Butch) Galm, District 7.
