NEIC involves staff in District decision-making

The Northside Educational Improvement Council (NEIC) consists of 19 professional staff members and one para-professional elected by their peers. It also includes 19 parents, community members and business representatives. Business representatives are appointed by the Board as a whole. The members serve two-year staggered terms.

The following staff members were elected to serve on NEIC for the 2004-05 school year: Linda Williams, Howsman ES; Cynthia Herrera, Sul Ross MS; Milton R. Fields, Taft HS; and Ronald Hyde, Excel Academy
The following staff members were in uncontested races and will automatically assume a seat: JoAnn Campbell, Boone ES; Chris DeArmond, Pease MS; Terry Zablocki, Warren HS; Denise Stanton, Glass ES; Don Pittman, Warren HS; and RC Rodriguez
The following staff members are returning members: Kelly Mantel, Howsman ES; Sharon Michael Chadwell, Raba ES; Linda Koehler, Howsman ES and Ward ES; Sue Richards, Connally MS; Gretchen Bernabei, O'Connor HS; Lourdes Medina, Warren HS; Priscilla Paul, Brauchle ES; Patty Conlin, Stevenson MS; Rebecca Barron Flores, Passmore ES; and Sharon Thornton, Northside Habilitation Program

NISD accepts the
“Go!Kids Challenge.”
NISD, along with 18 other Bexar County school districts, joined the San Antonio Sports Foundation in launching the second annual Diamond Shamrock Go!Kids Challenge on Sept. 29. The program motivates children in grades K-5 to walk one-fourth mile a day, record their mileage in a special journal, eventually reaching a marathon distance of 26.2 miles in 19 weeks.

Children at Locke Hill Elementary School kicked-off Go!Kids Challenge day with performances by the Clark High School cheerleaders and local acrobatic gymnasts. They were then cheered on by members of the Clark High School football team, many of whom are mentors to Locke Hill students.

The Go!Kids Challenge was developed to provide children with an introduction to the importance of routine exercise and proper nutrition for the development of a healthy lifestyle. The program concludes on Dec. 5, 2004 with a Go!Kids Rally at the Alamodome where participants will receive medals and t-shirts for achieving their goals.
