Marcella Slate works as the Communications Department Secretary where she is responsible for fielding a multitude of calls daily about all facets of the school district. She helps handle the information flow to the general public that includes prospective employees, realtors, parents, elected officials, media reporters, and business owners.
She has worked with the Northside ISD family for 11 years. Her career with the District started at John Marshall High School in 1990, where she was an instructional assistant in the Applied Learning Environment classroom for the Special Education Department. She then became a Library Assistant at Health Careers High School. Slate was then hired in the newly created Academics Standards Department which was tasked by the School Board to develop academic standards for all the core subjects and grade levels. She joined the Communications Department in June 2000.
