CAHS Teacher Wins HEB Excellence in Education Award
CAHS English I Pre-AP teacher Emily Swoboda has won the presitigious HEB Excellence in Education Award, recognition that she is one of the very best teachers in the state of Texas. She received the secondary leadership award for creating an online classroom where students can access their work anywhere with the Internet and record podcasts. Swoboda gets $10,000 for herself and another $10,000 for the school.
Over 4,000 nominations were sent to the competition. Nominations undergo rounds of judging by fellow Texas educators until only 40 emerge as finalists. The award culminates in a regal ceremony likened to the Academy Awards of education in Texas, as all finalists attend to find out who is the winner.
