Windy Barker graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Science in English. She later received a Master of Education in Education Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. She has taught English at the middle school, high school, and college levels, as well as fine arts, special education, and a gifted and talented program in middle schools. She came to Communications Arts from Taft High School, where she coordinated the Ninth Grade Success Initiative.
Barker has written for a variety of media, having work published in newspapers and magazines. She has written descriptive texts for movies for visually impaired audiences, and wrote and produced the Community Events Calendar for Texas Public Radio for ten years.
Believing that laughter is an essential element of every day, Barker and her husband raised two offspring (now wonderful adults), and currently share their home with an extremely furry dog of uncertain ancestry.
Wendy Gomez is a graduate of Angelo State University where she completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and the University of Texas in San Antonio where she completed her Master of Arts degree in Counseling. She began her teaching career at NISD and feels honored and privileged to continue her career at such an outstanding school district.
