Art 4 Electronic Media (Advanced Video Production) is a special elective offered only at Communications Arts.

In this class students will expand the skills introduced in the Video Technology course. In addition to several brief “warm up” projects, students will develop and produce screenplays for short films based on original ideas. It is expected that each student will act as crew on one another's projects. The course has an independent, hands-on structure with some classroom and individual instruction included.

This class also serves as the crew for Communiqué, our weekly television newscast. As a member of the class you will be expected to report, produce, direct, shoot, and edit for this newscast at various times throughout the school year. Because there are two sections of Advanced Video, we will divide the duties for the newscast depending on the talents of the students in each section. On-screen anchors will be chosen by an audition process, but all class members can potentially appear in a variety of other segments of the newscast.

It is also the responsibility of this class to produce the annual Communications Arts Recruitment Video. We will begin work on that project in November. There will also be opportunities to work on special projects that may arise throughout the year; for example, the “Teens in the Drivers Seat” campaign.
