Chemistry I Honors

In this course, students will investigate the structure and properties of matter as well as the chemical processes that govern the world around us. The year begins with a look at how the current model of the atom was developed over the last 200 years. After this introduction, students will study a number of topics including the Periodic Table, chemical bonding, chemical reactions, acids and bases, and nuclear chemistry. Throughout the course, there is a focus on how chemistry affects our daily lives.

Instruction is provided in a variety of formats including lectures, laboratory investigations, and cooperative learning activities. Emphasis is placed on hands-on experiences and the integration of technology into all aspects of instruction.
