Organizations

 


At Communications Arts there are all kinds of organizations for all kinds of people. Nearly everyone is involved with one.

Class Officers raise money for graduation, prom, and coordinate activities for their class and school.

National Honor Society: open to juniors and seniors who excel in scholarship, service, leadership and character. Sponsors: Jill Barton and Debbie Dehlinger

Student Council performs the customary functions of a student government. They organize and participate in many volunteer programs and put together the annual CommArts Banquet at the end of the year. They also put on a yearly event called Turkey Fest. Sponsors: Cynthia Driggers and Sam Harris

Yearbook: we have our own yearbook, created by students in the Journalism elective class. Teacher/Sponsor: Heidi Whitus

Spanish National Honor Society—Capitulo El Morro: students must have taken three semesters of Spanish and maintained an "A" average in order to be inducted. Sponsors: Ginger Ochoa and Nora Reynosa

La Comunidad is our Spanish newspaper at CAHS. This was Texas' first student- produced Spanish newspaper. Sponsor: Ginger Ochoa

Spanish Club: for appreciative study of the Spanish language and culture. Sponsors: Ginger Ochoa and Nora Reynosa

Environment Club: raises awareness of environmental problems within the school and community; organizes activities to beautify the Taft/CAHS campus and SanAntonio area; encourages appreciation and protection of nature and natural resources. Sponsor: Debra Dehlinger

Film Club is for anyone who considers themselves a "film geek." We meet to watch and discuss films during lunch. Sponsors: Heidi Whitus and Stephen Villela

World Cultures Club

Dead Poet's Society
