Organizations

Class Officers raise money for events such as graduation and prom, and coordinate activities for their class and school.

National Honor Society: open to juniors and seniors who excel in scholarship, service, leadership and character. Sponsors: Shellie Malik and Victoria McCormick. Meetings are the first Wednesday of each month at 8:15 a.m., 12:35 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. in the Lecture Hall or ISM Lab. New member induction is in November.

Student Council performs the customary functions of a student government. They organize and participate in many volunteer programs and put together the annual CommArts Banquet at the end of the year. They also put on a yearly event called Turkey Fest. Sponsors: Cynthia Driggers and Sam Harris

Spanish National Honor Society—Capitulo El Morro: students must have taken three semesters of Spanish, maintained an "A" average and be at the sophomore level in order to be inducted. Sponsors: Ginger Ochoa, Nora Reynosa and Cynthia Driggers. Meetings are in C225 the Thursday after the NHS meeting at 8:40, 12:35 and 4:05.
Meetings: Nov. 5, Dec. 3 (Stocking Stuffers due), Jan. 7 and Feb. 4. Field Trip is Feb. 11 and induction of new members is April 8 at 7:00 p.m.

Spanish Club: for appreciative study of the Spanish language and culture. Sponsors: Ginger Ochoa and Nora Reynosa

Environment Club: raises awareness of environmental problems within the school and community; organizes activities to beautify the Taft/CAHS campus and San Antonio area; encourages appreciation and protection of nature and natural resources. Sponsor: Debra Dehlinger
