On Tuesday, May 8, a fourth grade student at Braun Station Elementary School had an unfortunate encounter with a piece of peppermint candy that became lodged in his throat. Initially the student thought he was fine when asked, but when his face went from red to blue, the teacher performed the life saving Heimlich maneuver. The school nurse was called to check his medical status, along with his parents who took him to their family doctor and confirmed that the young man would be fine - thanks to this wonderful teacher.
