Northside High School is renamed for U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Marshall (When John Marshall died in Philadelphia, PA in 1835, the Liberty Bell was tolled until it cracked).

NISD decides to name high schools for Supreme Court Justices, junior highs for Texas Governors, and elementaries for the subdivisions in which they are located.

Northside Jr. High School is renamed Sul Ross Middle School.

First NISD biligual education program.

The NISD board approves educating all students, no matter what their handicap, to begin the Special Education program.

Glenoaks and Westwood Terrace Elementary Schools open.

Pat Neff Jr. High School opens.

NISD board suspends policy of naming junior high schools after Texas Governors.

John Glenn Elementary and Thunderbird Hills Elementary School (now Powell) open.

NISD purchases TV antenna systems for 14 schools.
