The
School Age Parenting (SAP) School provides academic instruction
to teen moms during their post partum period. Located at the Northside
Learning Center, students attend a modified campus with their babies
twice a week, 9 AM-12PM.
Directly after the baby is born students are instructed to call
their case manager and set up a staffing (meeting) with a SAP
School Teacher
(Mrs. Kimsey, Mrs. Contreras or Mrs. Montamat). At the staffing
the student, her parents and teacher discuss the academic courses
that
will be carried, arrange for transportation and child care during
the teen mom’s enrollment at the SAP School. After the staffing
the student will be instructed to take her paper work to her home
campus to withdraw and is subsequently enrolled at the SAP School.
Upon completion of 6 weeks postpartum teen moms are withdrawn from
the SAP School and return to their home campus.
