Elementary Art Program
The elementary art program is available to K-5 students on all Northside campuses; it is taught by elementary art specialists. The program allows students to create original works of art utilizing age-appropriate media and age-appropriate instruction. Elementary students work in both 2-D and 3-D art forms. Elementary media include paper, pencil, colored pencil, crayon, ink, tempera, watercolor, pastels, oil pastels, clay, and fabric. Drawing, painting, constructions, ceramics, printmaking, and weaving are some of the techniques and processes involved in instruction. Exposure to the artwork of multiple cultures and a variety of artists, along with, the display of personal artwork are also integral parts of the elementary art program.
