Accelerated Reader Introduction

Galm students are successful readers and our TAKS scores are proof. To complement and enhance our classroom reading programs, we also offer the Accelerated Reader program. It is a computer based reading motivation program that has three main objectives:
Most of our students are familiar with Accelerated Reader. We are proud of their progress. Students select and read books independently. The student then completes an evaluation of their comprehension using a school computer. The computer maintains a reading history on each student that can be accessed as needed. Students receive special recognition for participation in the Accelerated Reader point clubs. Classroom teachers encourage participation in Accelerated Reader and may have specific expectations for their students.
Students may use books from home, the public library or our school library. You can find a list of available tests in our school website under library. The program maintains a reading record for all students in the program and this information is available for parents.
If you have any questions concerning the implementation of this program or your student's progress, please feel free to contact us.
