Mentorship Program
Belief: Galm Elementary has students, parents, teachers, and administrators who provide a stimulating environment that promotes academic excellence by developing independent learners who are responsible members of the school community.
MOTTO: Together we make the WORLD a better place!
Concept: A mentor will provide students with the one-to-one attention that can make a difference in student’s lives. He/She will help to build self-confidence, self-esteem, and set goals.
Strategy: Weekly mentoring will encompass the following:
...................Emotional support and guidance - by use of “guided discussions”.
...................Academics - complete teacher assigned work/tutoring/reading/help with TAKS (information
.......................................... forthcoming on what is the new TAKS and how to help, materials you can use to
.......................................... tutor the students, serve as a role model as a Mentor).
...................Reflections- End of the Year Field Trip, comments, suggestions, expectations for next year.
Galm Elementary was a recipient of the Texas Education Agency “Recognized” status for it's Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills award for 2005! Our commitment to children has always been a priority and we truly appreciate the great part that World Savings has done in pursuing this endeavor.
