To strive for success at Colby Glass Elementary, students, staff and family will work as a team to meet individual needs. Students will be expected to develop a good sense of self-esteem and worthwhile learning self-discipline as a measure of their success. Students will learn to think independently as well as be receptive to the ideas of others. Thus, all students will be able to function in group settings or independently.

As a staff we will recognize and utilize diversity in teaching styles and methodologies. Teachers will remain learners as well as facilitators. Staff will continue to maintain a high level of professionalism and enthusiasm. We seek to provide a challenging curriculum with flexibility to meet the needs of each student.

Teachers believe that to be effective, education must be founded on a mastery of basic skills, taught not only in isolation but also in integration. We place strong emphasis on reading, personal expression of ideas through speaking and writing, and the mastery of computational and problem solving skills. We also encourage scientific exploration, artistic creativity, and physical activity.

It is essential for the family to recognize they are the first teacher in their child's life. Parents must remain an integral part of the education team.
