At Glenoaks we promote an attitude of respect and dignity in a caring safe environment where learning and working together are on going in order to help our students achieve their maximum potential.
History

Glenoaks was built in 1961. It was a small neighborhood school with approximately 375 students. The school structure was arranged in separate buildings called "pods" that are named C, D, E, and G. Each pod contained four classrooms with a restroom for boys and one for girls. Other structures on the campus included a gym, library building, teacher's workroom, administrative offices and cafeteria. a covered walkway connected the buildings. As the District grew, so did Glenoaks. In 1988-1989 the district attendance boundaries were redrawn and the school was enlarged. The building which included the library, grew to become what is now the "F" building. This addition included 17 classrooms, two computer labs and a counselor's office, reading resource room and teacher's lounge. Classrooms to facilitate music and art were added to the gymnasium. Our most recent renovations completed in 1993 included the enlargement of the cafeteria and stage. The administrative offices were also remodeled and a bus loop was added to the rear of the buildings. This renovation addressed American Disabilities Act compliance and asbestos concerns.
Glenoaks was the first Title I school in the district to achieve recognized status by the Texas Education Agency.
Glenoaks now houses approximately 600 Pre-K -fifth grade students. We provide English as a Second Language (ESL) and Bilingual classes at each grade level as well as take overflow students from Colby Glass and McDermott Elementary schools.
