Spring 2008 NEWS
14 April 2008: Student-Led Conferences...Students in grades K, 1st and 2nd will hold Student-Led Conferences this evening from 4:30 to 6:00 pm in their classrooms. Teachers will communicate with parents as to the exact time the conference will be held. Students will get to discusss their academic progress directly with parents. Teachers will be on hand for any questions or concerns that may arise. Don't miss this great opportunity to dialog with your child about the academic progress they have accomplished so far!


DECEMBER 2008 NEWS
22 December 2008 - 2 January 2009: Holiday - Winter Break...
There will be no classes for this entire period. Classes for all students will resume on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the regular time. Enjoy your Winter Break. See you in the New Year!

9 December 2008: PTA Meeting - Winter Program...All students and parents are welcome to attend our Winter Program. Our teachers and students will collaborate on a wonderful program. Everyone should gather in the cafeteria. The Winter Program should begin promptly at 6:00 pm. Hope to see you there!


NOVEMBER 2008 NEWS
24-28 November 2008: Holiday - Thanksgiving Break...There will be no classes for the entire week. Classes for all students will resume on Monday at the regular time. Enjoy your Thanksgiving Day!

14 November 2008: Title I Parent Coffee...All parents and community members interested in learning more about the Title I status for Hatchett Elementary are invited to atted a Parent coffee session from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Ms. Piñon, Hatchett Principal, will facilitate a short discussion on what Title I status means, how this status impacts children at and staff at Hatchett, and how parents play a role. Bring your questions!

7 November 2008: Early Release...Classes for all students will end early today. Student dismissal today will be at 11:45 am. Please ensure that you have informed your child's teacher of the transportation arrangements for your child.


OCTOBER 2008 NEWS
31 October 2008: Report Card Date...
Students will be issued report cards. Please review all academic grades, character grades, additional information and teacher comments with your child. Return only the bottom portion of the report card. Contact your child's teacher to request a parent-teacher conference to discuss any concerns you may have.

31 October 2008: Book Character Parade...Students will dress as favorite book characters and march in parade throughout the school to promote reading and learning. Students in costume must also bring the book with their character to display as they march in parade.

27 October to 31 October 2008: Red Ribbon Week...This week we celebrate Red Ribbon Week.


17 to 27 October 2008: Hatchett PTA Fundraiser...
During this period of time, Hatchett PTA will conduct a school-wide fundraiser. Students will take home entertainment/coupon books. Students and parents are encouraged to sell as much as possible as all proceeds will go towards items on this year's Hatchett PTA budget. NO door-to-door sales.

10 October 2008: Hatchett Town Meeting...We will hold a brief school assembly. 4th Grade students will present a short skit on another NISD Pillar of Character. Counselors will recognize birthdays. Ms. Randell will lead students in singing the school song.

7 October 2008: Afterschool Tutoring Begins...
Students and Teachers will begin afterschool tutoring sessions this Tuesday for students in 3rd, 4th and 5th. Afterschool tutoring will occur from 3:15 pm to 4:15 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please make the necessary adjustments to transportation arrangements to ensure that your child is picked up on time. Thanks for supporting this important academic intervention program.

6 October 2008: Book Fair...
Our Hatchett Hurricane Book Fair will begin today. Students should be taking home a book order form. The Book Fair will extend from October 6 to October 10. Hope to see you there!


SEPTEMBER 2008 NEWS
26 September 2008: Individual School Pictures...Students will be taking individual pictures. Be sure to dress up extra nice for your picture and don't forget to SMILE :)

We will start promptly at 6:00 pm with a brief PTA Meeing and Title I presentation in our school cafeteria. The PTA meeting will be followed immediately by Open House presentation in individual teacher classrooms. See you here!

8 September 2008: Grandparents' Breakfast...All grandparents are encouraged to attend school this morning and enjoy breakfast with their grandchildren in the school cafeteria from 7:15 to 7:40 am. Enjoy some extra time with your little bundle of love.

AUGUST 2008 NEWS
25 August 2008: Classes Resume...We welcome all students to the start of the 2008-2009 academic year. Today all classes resume at the regular time. Welcome to Hatchett Elementary!

21 August 2008: Meet the Teacher...We will have our building open this evening from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm for students and parents to come up to school to meet their teachers. Classroom lists will be posted and the school entry. Staff members will be on hand to provide directions to classrooms. Come on by and meet your new teacher for this year, visit your classroom, and drop off your school supplies.
