He did not know it when he rolled out of bed this morning, but Clyde Lehmann, a Latin teacher at Northside Health Careers High School, hit the jackpot today. He learned, during a surprise student assembly, that he is the recipient of the Milken Family Foundation's National Educator Award, which carries with it a $25,000 cash prize.
The award was presented by Lowell Milken, co-founder or the MFF. Also attending the ceremony was Robert Scott, Chief Deputy Commissioner of Education, Rosey Grier ex-football player and Chairman of the Board of the Milken Family Foundation, Dr. Folks, Superintendent of NISD, members of the NISD School Board and the Press. |

Nationally, 100 unsuspecting educators in 47 states will be presented with the award. This marks the fourth year that Texas has participated in the program. Lehman will become part of the Milken Educator Network, which comprises nearly 2,000 of the nation's most outstanding educators since the inception of the program 17 years ago. Read all about it!
