HCHS has an academic program designed to improve the potential of the student as a whole.

Also, through each year, students are introduced to different aspects of the fields of health and medicine.
  • Freshmen are required to take a half-year of Health Careers Exploration
  • Sophomores take Health Care Science
  • Upperclassmen select a two-period lab course which introduces them to special skills.
    • Medical/Surgical Technology
    • Diagnostic Services I
    • Diagnostic Services II
    • Patient Care
    • Medical Office Administration
    • Clinical Rotation
    • Dental Science
    • Health Occupations Co-op
    • Scientific Research and Design
In addition to excelling in class, HCHS students are actively involved in community service projects. Numerous service projects are available to students. Also, they volunteer their time to help at area hospitals, such as University Hospital and VA Hospital, and also at institutions such as Camp CAMP. For information on organizations which participate in service projects, see Clubs.
