I am currently the Campus Instructional Technologist (CIT)
and the Web Master at
Health
Careers High School. I have 23 years of teaching experience
in the
Northside ISD and the
Northeast
ISD. I have taught math, drama, rocketry, computer programming
and computer literacy. I am one of the developers of the NISD
Web Mastering Online course which was the first online high school
course accredited by TEA. I am the lead teacher and the Web
Master of this course. Every summer, for the last 6 years, I have
taught various courses for the T.A.G. (Talented and Gifted) program
and Elderhostel program at Texas A&M in Galveston.
I enjoy doing consulting
work for different school districts. I design and present Macromedia
five-day workshops. I have presented my workshops in the
San Antonio ISD and La Porte ISD. I have worked with Prentice
Hall publishing to develop on-line
technology integrated math courses and with ESC4 to evaluate
on-line
curriculum. I also teach Staff Development on-line classes through PBS Teacher Line.
I attended Texas A&M University until my late husband graduated.
I finished my last two semesters at University of Texas at San
Antonio. I have a bachelors in education from UTSA, a M. Ed.
in Curriculum and Instruction and a certificate in Instructional
Technology from Houston Baptist University. I am a member of
the Texas Association for Educational Technology (TAET).
I have served since 1996 as a Board Member, Vice-President and
President. I am also a member of TCEA where
I do one or two 6-hr Flash! workshops every year at their conference
in Austin.
I am also the newly elected President for The
TCEA CampSIG organization.
The CampSIG group was formed to create a group that would support and
communicate with the persons on the campuses responsible for the technology.
Campuses have unique problems that need immediate attention and the people in
CampSIG sought to provide that help for the campus based technology people. In
addition, training has been provided by the CampSig group for the members. This
group has been the largest and most active of the Special Interest Groups and
has plans to continue serving the needs of its members in the future by staying
in touch with their changing needs.
I am married to a Cajun caterer and work part time helping him in his business. I have two grown sons who attend Texas A&M majoring in Computer Science. I also have two beautiful step-daughters.
Between my job, our businesses, family and our pets (3 cats
and an aquarium of various water creatures including a crawfish)
I keep pretty busy. When I am not working, I enjoying reading,
walking, jogging, working out, kayaking, traveling and playing
computer games.
