Given this pattern of illness the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local health departments have shifted emphasis of activities from individual case finding to a focus on community-wide prevention strategies including preparations for vaccination.
Northside ISD is seeking trained and licensed volunteers to administer flu shots to inoculate students against the H1N1 flu, also known as swine flu.
In Northside, we have worked with local public health agencies to plan for contingencies if the flu does become widespread in our community. In all of these plans, we have tried to balance health and safety requirements with the educational and social needs of our students and families.
