A letter is being sent to all parents of affected elementary schools and also is posted on the flu information web site.

  • NISD announces schedule for H1N1 vaccines for Dec. 7-16

Northside ISD's free vaccinations against the H1N1 flu for qualified students will continue. Only those students whose parents provide permission will be vaccinated and only registered Northside students will be eligible.

  • H1N1 vaccination update from Deputy Superintendent Brian Woods

San Antonio Metro Health is telling us now that there may not be sufficient quantities of the vaccine to run school-based shot clinics until November.

  • HIN1 vaccination update from the Superintendent

We did think that we would begin vaccinations this week or next week, but we are now told the vaccine has not arrived in the state in terms of the quantity that is needed to begin the school vaccinations.

  • Letter from Fernando Guerra, Director of the San Antonio Metro Health District

While we have seen that the Novel H1N1 virus has become wide spread across the globe, the severity of the illness for most cases has fortunately been mild.... Given this pattern of illness the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local health departments have shifted emphasis of activities from individual case finding to a focus on community-wide prevention strategies including preparations for vaccination.

  • Volunteers needed to give flu shots

Northside ISD is seeking trained and licensed volunteers to administer flu shots to inoculate students against the H1N1 flu, also known as swine flu.

  • Letter from the Superintendent

In Northside, we have worked with local public health agencies to plan for contingencies if the flu does become widespread in our community. In all of these plans, we have tried to balance health and safety requirements with the educational and social needs of our students and families.
