GRADE REPORTING
Report Cards
- Students in grades Kinder-5th have four grading periods. Report cards must be signed by the parent or guardian, then returned to school. The final report card of the year is to be kept by the parent/guardian.
-Before the first report card goes home, parents will be invited to a conference to discuss the childs progress. During the conference the first nine week report card will be given to the parent.Mid-Nine Week Progress Reports
-Students in Kinder and first will receive a District/ School report teachers fill in by hand sharing information regarding the students progress during the reporting period.
-Students in grades 2-5 will receive a computer generated report stating current grades and work habits/citizenship performance. -Reports must be signed by the parent /guardian and returned to school.
Tardies
-School begins each morning at 7:45 a.m. Students not in their classroom when the school bell rings will be counted TARDY.
-Students arriving after the 7:45 a.m. bell must report to the office for a tardy slip that is turned into the classroom teacher.
-Students tardy more than three times will receive a warning letter. Repeat occurrences will be given to the Visiting Teacher for follow-up.
-Students accruing tardies will not qualify for attendance awards.
Absences
-Students who are absent from school due to illness must have a note to return to class written by the parent /guardian. The note must include the reason and dates the child was absent. If no note arrives with the child, the absence is considered unexcused.
-Students seeing a doctor, then returning to campus, must have a signed note from the doctors office when they arrive on campus to be counted present.
-Students who are absent five or more days are sent a "Compulsory Attendance Warning Letter" stating a need for students to be in school and for a doctors note to be sent to school if a child missed any more school due to illness.
-State law limits the number of days a student may be absent (10); students who have excessive absences may be retained, and the parents are subject to legal action.
Clear communication is vital for student success.
Newsletters
-All classrooms send home a newsletter on a schedule. Grades K-2 send one home weekly; grades 3-5 bi-weekly.
-All special area teachers send home newsletters with information regarding their program on a scheduled published at the beginning of the school year.
-Mrs. Keairnes sends home a monthly newsletter and calendar of events for the upcoming month on the Wednesday before the first day of the month.
Conferences
-All teachers will conference with parents at the end of the first nine weeks to explain the report card.
-In January parents of students who are not meeting criteria for promotion at that point will be contacted for a conference.
-At any time parents or teachers may request a conference.
Wednesday Folders
-All information from the office (Mrs. Keairnes newsletter/calendar, PTA info., etc.) goes home on Wednesday in a designated folder with a Bulldog sticker on the front. We ask parents to read the information and respond accordingly.
