| The Accelerated Reader (AR) program is a self paced reading program that rewards students for reading independently. When a student has completed an Accelerated Reader book from our library, they take a comprehension test on that book and are awarded points for each successful test taken on each book. Prizes are awarded monthly to students as they reach the next point club. Our point clubs start at the 10 point club and go all the way to the 900 and up point club! The points are cumulative - they keep growing from year to year. The student who has the most points at the end of the year is rewarded with a gift certificate to Barnes and Noble. |
| 1. Select a Book - Students make their own choices from more than 3,000 outstanding and popular titles on the AR book list. The reading levels range from first grade through high school. Our library marks these books with a blue label, but you may get the book from your home or another library. 2. Read the Book - Students read their books at their own pace during scheduled class periods or during independent reading times. 3. Take the Test - Students love to take tests on the computer! The multiple choice test is carefully designed to verify that the student has actually read the book. (Watching the video does not work!) When the test is completed, the computer instantly reveals how many questions were answered correctly and awards points based on the book's length, reading level and number of correct answers. Tests can only be taken in the student's classroom or in our library. The links below provide a list of all Accelerated Reader books in our library. You can view our entire list in alphabetical order, or you can view our book lists by their grade level. |
