I have been with NISD for 18 years. My husband and I have two kids, our son is 25 and our daughter is 23. We live in Bandera and I am so happy to be a Helotes Bulldog!

My name is Laurie Ackels and I am excited to be the Attendance Secretary
at Helotes Elementary School. I feel right at home here since I am a product
of Northside schools - attending both Helotes
Elementary and graduating from John Marshall High School. I have been married
for 17 years and have two great boys. My hobbies include reading,
vintage jewelry, beading, and taking care of our menagerie of three dogs, one
cat, ten hermit crabs, one gerbil, and our beautiful canary named Chuckie.

I am thrilled to be at Helotes Elementary, the best school in Northside. I am a graduate of Marshall High School and am a product of Northside schools. This is my very first year to work in Northside and I am pleased to assist you as the campus clerk here at Helotes Elementary.
