Getting Groovy with Read It Forward!

You might see a lot of peace signs and tie-dye around Hobby Middle School these days! We kicked off a school-wide Read it Forward program with the book Schooled by Gordon Korman. Many Hobby staff members dressed as a hippie for the day with custom-made tie-dye shirts to go along with the book's theme.

Over 200 copies of the book were distributed to Hobby students from the teachers and staff. As the student reads the book, he or she should sign the inside cover, and then Read it Forward - pass the book to another Hobby student. After the student has Read it Forward, he or she should come to the library to get a cool peace sign button. If the student adds a comment to the new library blog, he or she can get a groovy peace sign necklace.

Hobby Students Collect Stuffed Animals for Haiti Children

Hobby students reached into their hearts and closets to collect stuffed animals for Haiti children. The collection will be transported to Haiti by a sister of one of Hobby's students, who works in an orphanage in Haiti.

The Hobby PTA graciously provided staff members with several delicious soups, salads, breads, and several other goodies during lunch on February 2nd. This is the second annual Souper Bowl provided by the PTA to express teacher appreciation.
