Introduction

The following links come from all over the World Wide Web and represent a variety of aspects related to World War One. You may complete the following Internet activities alone or by working in a group. You may complete all or only some of the activities depending on your goals for the study of World War One.

The purpose of this Web page is to give you a sampling of some of the aspects related to World War One. Each of the activities asks you to make a personal commitment to what you like, believe, or feel about a topic. Good luck and have fun!

World War One Photographs

1. Select three pictures that are provided.
2. Describe each picture in detail.
3. Defend your choice of pictures by explaining the role these pictures play in bettering your understanding of the Great War.

World War One Causes

1. Navigate this website & use your previous knowledge to understand the causes of World War I.
2. Defend whether or not you think World War One was inevitable. Use the website and other resources to support your position.

World War One Propaganda
Same website as above
1. On the left side of the website click on propaganda posters.
2. Select three propaganda posters from three separate countries.
3. Compare & contrast the three posters. Consider: colors used, theme of the poster, what reaction is expected, is it effective, use of symbols, etc.

World War One Primary Sources

1. On the left side of the website click on primary documents.
2. Locate the dates & read about specific information on WWI. Ideas include the Treaty of Versailles, President Wilson's Fourteen Points, The Zimmerman Note, or The Triple Alliance prior to the onset of the war.
3. Analyze the document & discuss how it impacted the war or future wars.

Conclusion

You have had the opportunity to explore some important aspects of World War One. Write a short conclusion that reflects what students should have learned in completing this subject sampler.
