A
new web-based system for reporting absences and locating substitutes was implemented on February 14,
2004. E-School Solutions replaced the SubFinder™ system used to
both report employee absences and to arrange for substitute employees when needed.
All NISD employees (except those who are paid bi-weekly) must use the Substitute Employee Management System™ (SEMS) and the
WebCenter for reporting absences and
arranging for substitutes--if necessary. Employees have two ways of reporting their absences--by
phone and via the internet.
The WebCenter allows teachers and other
employees to not only report their absences on-line, but also to have a visual
record of their past and future absences. Teachers are able to request their
substitutes from a list of substitutes approved to work on their campus. Teachers
are also able to leave detailed lesson plans and other information for substitutes
so that they will arrive in the classroom ready to begin the day's learning activities.
Administrators are able to check on daily absences on their campuses
from any computer with an internet connection. They can check on the progress
of filling vacancies, can create and edit absences, and generate any of a long
list of absence reports for their campuses. They can also perform many of these tasks using their telephones.
Quick Reference Cards and
Users Guides detailing the features of the new system are available on this web site by clicking on the eSchool Documents button.
The phone number
for SEMS is 522-8987.
The
web address for WebCenter is http://sems.nisd.net or it can be accessed directly from a link to it from the NISD website at http://www.nisd.net
